Mobile Power Solutions Announces UL Qualification for Third-Party Testing
Battery technology center is one of only two battery test labs for UL 2054, 1642 and IEC 62133, and the only one on the West Coast to offer this testing
BEAVERTON, Ore., May 1, 2019 – Mobile Power Solutions, a leading battery testing/certification lab and battery pack manufacturer, today announced it received UL’s Third-Party Test Data Program (TPTDP) qualification which enables it to conduct standard UL testing for batteries at its U.S.-based lab. MPS was selected by UL as a testing facility with a fully documented laboratory quality program, physical resources, equipment, qualified personnel and procedures to efficiently and accurately conduct UL 2054, UL1642 and IEC 62133 tests. The lab was assessed by UL to ISO/IEC 17025:2005 and performed superior technical testing method demonstrations to earn the designation as a Third-Party Test Data Program Lab.
“As one of only two Third-Party Test Data Program Labs in the U.S. for battery testing, Mobile Power Solutions’ state-of-the-art lab serves as a seamless extension of UL’s product testing program, saving customers time and money by offering another option for scheduling this type of testing,” said Chuck Weitzel, Owner of Mobile Power Solutions.
UL’s TPTDP qualification acknowledges that the Mobile Power Solutions (MPS) lab, technicians and testing methods have been analyzed and validated to confirm that the high standards of UL requirements are continually met. As a part of the Data Acceptance Program, the TPTDP qualification process begins with an investigative technical audit to verify that laboratory operations include properly documented policies and procedures to manage standardization during the testing, recording and reporting of data.
The TPTDP grants MPS the right to conduct tests on behalf of UL in accordance with IEEE and UL standards on primary and secondary batteries, including lithium-ion cells and packs. Any test results and data provided by MPS in conformance to the standard will be accepted by UL as if conducted at a UL facility. UL experts will then review the data and construction of the tested item and issue the UL mark only if the product is compliant.
The TPTDP enables MPS to:
- Conduct thorough on-site testing that meets standardized UL criteria
- Offer clients increased flexibility to schedule testing and reduce testing costs
- Reduce lead time for client UL certification
