LEAD MECHANICAL ENGINEER

Our company is looking for an experienced lead mechanical engineer to join our team. As the lead mechanical engineer with the company, you will be critical in planning, coordinating and executing mechanical projects, thus ensuring they meet technical specifications, regulatory approvals, budgets and established quality standards. You would also collaborate with internal cross-functional teams and external customer teams to ensure the successful delivery of battery systems. Battery systems include li-ion batteries in plastic enclosures, battery chargers, and docking systems.

Lead Mechanical Engineer Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Analyze project requirements and develop mechanical engineering plans.
  • Develop and manage project scopes, schedules and budgets for mechanical projects.
  • Develop mechanical and electromechanical battery systems by studying customer requirements; researching and testing manufacturing and assembly methods and materials; and soliciting feedback/observations from operators.
  • Develop designs and conduct research projects, while applying the principles of mechanics, thermodynamics, hydraulics, heat transfer, electrical conductivity, and materials.
  • Hands-on experience with computer-aided engineering (CAE) and computer-aided manufacturing (CAM)
  • Familiarity with 2D or 3D engineering design and manufacturing tools (e.g., AutoCAD, ProE or other)
  • Adequate knowledge of engineering analysis tools (ANSYS, ProMechanica or similar)
  • Work with design teams and customers to ensure mechanical plans meet technical requirements and regulatory standards.
  • Coordinate with contractors, suppliers and regulatory testing team to facilitate project execution.  Manage contractors that develop tooling and supply molded parts.
  • Monitor and report on project progress, identifying and addressing potential issues.
  • Assures system and product quality by designing testing methods; testing finished-product and system capabilities; and confirming fabrication, assembly, and installation processes.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to project teams.

Education Requirements and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, and
  • 5+ Years of proven experience working in the mechanical engineering field, preferably with portable power products,
  • Superior computer skills, with solid experience in CAD/CAM applications, and
  • Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with project teams.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. and able to meet requirements for export control regulations, specifically International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and Export Administration Regulations (EAR).
