BATTERY TESTING
Mobile Power Solutions (MPS) specializes in ensuring your Lithium-ion batteries and products meet all your requirements for real-world usage. Regulations and standards for international markets are growing more complex and interrelated with each passing year. MPS provides comprehensive regulatory compliance, performance, safety, and environmental testing. Some of the environmental and safety tests may be covered in mandatory or optional regulatory approvals, but MPS can test and verify far beyond the obligatory regulatory requirements. Our state-of-the-art lab and experienced engineering team offer cell and battery qualification to your company’s specific requirements. MPS is ANAB accredited to ISO/IEC 17025:2017, as well as certified to ISO 9001:2015, and AS 9100D.
Due to the risk of venting or explosion during destructive tests found in safety or environmental testing, MPS has numerous safety features built into our test facilities. Secure test chambers for all test equipment ensure a safe seal during testing, and prevent door damage in the unlikely event of an explosion. Depending on the type of test chamber, the individual chamber can utilize gas detection, pressure relief, air or nitrogen purging, intrinsic barriers, and fire suppression.
Our battery testing and regulatory approval services are offered to a myriad of companies in the Lithium battery industry. These companies include;
- Enterprise customers and government agencies seeking independent assessment of their batteries,
- Equipment OEM’s seeking independent assessment of cell options for existing and future batteries,
- Equipment OEM’s seeking custom batteries for their device,
- Equipment OEM’s seeking to competively benchmark their existing batteries with their competitors’ offerings, and
- Cell manufacturers evaluating new products.
Performance Testing
Cells and batteries differ, and performance varies widely. MPS tests to real-world conditions as defined by our customers, and our performance tests can be customized to your specific performance expectations. Our performance results enable you to choose the optimal cell or battery configurations for your application. Additionally, our performance results ensure that your batteries exceed performance and warranty expectations over the life of your device and battery.
Our experienced staff can consult on your initial performance tests, and add their decades of experience with mobile device and battery performance. Our testing facilities provide complete data acquisition (including video) for all performance and safety testing. Our equipment is calibrated to NIST traceable standards, and is housed in a temperature controlled environment.
Safety Testing
MPS can ensure your mobile device and battery achieve the highest standard of safety with our comprehensive testing services and test facilities. Complying with the mandatory and optional regulations provides a certain level of assurance of safe operation.
More importantly, the usage profile of a specific mobile device or battery may dictate additional safety testing for less common corner-case scenarios. MPS can verify that your mobile device and battery will perform safely in all situations throughout the life of the product.
Environmental Testing
Environmental testing simulates extreme environmental conditions experienced by mobile devices and batteries. These tests expose batteries to a variety of conditions such as heat, cold, shock, vibration, altitude, humidity, and corrosion. MPS has test chambers designed specifically for environmental testing of batteries. Our experienced staff can consult on your expectations of environmental performance, and add their decades of experience with mobile device and battery performance.
Regulatory Compliance Testing
Regulations and standards for international markets grow more complex and interrelated with each passing year. Some of the environmental and safety tests may be covered in mandatory or optional regulatory approvals, but MPS has the capability to test and verify far beyond the obligatory regulatory requirements. MPS’s team is educated and current on relevant standards, laws, and testing requirements. In fact, the senior staff at MPS sit on the regulatory bodies that define these standards.
